Structure and Properties of Glycomaterials



The "Structure and Properties of Glycomaterials" group develops a multiscale approach for the study of polysaccharides in the solid state (cellulose, starch, chitin, etc.), from the atomistic description to the structural and functional properties of both natural and man-made glycomaterials. Its expertise covers a large range of scientific domains in material science including crystallography, polymer and colloid physical chemistry and material processing. The researchers of the group are experts in complementary sophisticated characterization techniques (neutron and X-ray scattering and reflectivity, electron microscopy, solid-state NMR) and have developed methodologies and molecular modeling methods specific to the substrates. The scientific efforts are focused on answering questions of both academic and industrial relevance though collaborations at local and international levels.
